High pressure water jetting is nothing new. In fact it first appeared in the early 1950's. As you can imagine the equipment was extremely cumbersome and very expensive. The technology has evolved so much that everything needed to perform high pressure jetting can now fit inside one medium sized commercial van. An engine is used to drive a pump which is responsible for achieving the high pressures required to thoroughly clean your drains without the use of any chemicals or excavation. Water is pumped from a storage tank located inside the purpose built jetting vehicle down a long coil of extremely thick walled, reinforced flexible pipe that has been fed into the drains to the appropriate location.
There are 7 basic components required to produce a high pressure water jet stream although the lance is not always used but is essential for some jetting jobs.
Required to compress and pump the high pressure water stream down the hose, lance and finally out of the nozzle. The pump needs to be able to operate at 25,000 psi all day everyday.
The engine connects to and drives the water jetting pump. Needless to say it has to be very powerful and can be either diesel, petrol or electric. We use diesel.
A high pressure jetting hose has the very simple job of connecting the pump to the nozzle and allowing water to flow between them. However it has to be capable of safely passing through water under 2 and a half times the maximum working pressure you are working at.
The hose reel and hose reel drum are generally constructed from 1/4" diameter steel which easily allows the hose to safely expand and contract. Supported by a rigid steel double 'A' frame that can be safely mounted in the back of a commercial van.
A jetting lance is usually required to connect the hose to the nozzle but not essential as their are individual nozzels available that attach directly to the pipe which you will require to get right in to your drains.
A hardened stainless steel stop end with precision machined flow paths which can turn the water through 180 degrees as well as straight out of the center precision opening. its exit points which can be just 1 center or several center and several rear streams.
The water tank capacity determines the amount of time the system can jet for. Although it has no effect on the jetting pressure you should aim for a 300 gallon tank as a maximum if your van only has one axle.
